Michael R. Nagel, M.D., MPA, FACC, FAHA is an office-based consulting clinical cardiologist, who is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Nuclear Cardiology and specializes in Preventive Cardiology.
His practice focuses on the assessment and detection of cardiovascular risk factors that lead to the development of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Emphasis is placed on lifestyle modification, including nutrition and exercise, along with medications, in the prevention of progression of clinical CVD, and in some instances regression of coronary atherosclerosis.
The search for genetic risk factors and the early subclinical presence of atherosclerosis allows for early aggressive therapy in the primary prevention of Coronary Artery Disease(CAD).
SERVICES: A Complete Cardiovascular Consultation includes a History and Physical Examination, and which may also include blood work for genetic risk factor screening, EKGs, Treadmill Stress Testing with either Echocardiography or Nuclear Myocardial Perfusion Imaging, Computerized Tomographic Coronary Calcium Scoring, and CT Coronary Angiography. Recommendations for a nutrition and exercise program can then be prescribed based on documented data.
Evaluations are undertaken for the diagnosis and treatment of known cholesterol elevation(or other lipid abnormalities),hypertension (high blood pressure), heart murmurs, palpitations, dizziness, fainting episodes, chest discomfort, shortness of breath,leg swelling,or pain in the calves on walking.
